FIRE retires Dec 31, 2026 (target date) · Plan the move →

For teams filing 1,000 to 1,000,000+ forms a season

Keep your filing in‑house.
Morado handles IRIS.

Your team has filed its own returns for years. IRIS shouldn't end that. Morado ingests the Pub 1220 FIRE files and spreadsheets your systems already produce, converts them to IRIS XML, validates every record, and transmits direct to the IRS. You keep the function, the data, and the control.

The decision every FIRE filer is making

Every FIRE filer gets the same three options.

IRIS becomes the only IRS intake system for information returns in Filing Season 2027. If you've been filing under your own FIRE TCC, here's what the transition actually looks like.

OPTION 01

Build IRIS A2A yourself

  • New TCC, up to 45 days, ID.me proofing per official
  • XML schemas ship in SOR packages that expire in 60 days
  • Mandatory ATS certification testing
  • No IRS developer support line

OPTION 02

The free IRIS portal

  • CSV uploads capped at 250 records per file
  • One form type per file
  • Corrections keyed by hand, one at a time
  • No test environment

Works at 200 forms. You file 20,000.

OPTION 03

Surrender to a per-form bureau

  • Your data and your process move into their system
  • Pricing meters per form, add-ons stack on top
  • The invoice grows every year
  • Support queues, not engineers

Morado is the fourth option: keep it in‑house, without building it.

The live demo

Bring a sample file. Watch the IRS accept it.

Every Morado demo ends the same way: you bring a sample file, we transmit it to the IRS's ATS test environment, refresh the status, and read the IRS's own response together. It says Accepted.

It's how we open every demo. Ask your current vendor to show you theirs.

Bring last season's FIRE file. Leave with it validated for IRIS.

Included with Morado

White-glove FIRE‑to‑IRIS migration.

We convert your Pub 1220 files and file your first batch with you, under our own production TCC. A founding engineer does it with your team, not a ticket queue.

You skip: the TCC application · ID.me proofing · X.509/JWKS cert setup · annual ATS testing

We reply within a business day with a plan scoped to your forms and volume. No sequence, no spam.

Questions

Questions you're probably asking

THE FIRE → IRIS TRANSITION

Can we keep filing in-house after FIRE retires?

Yes. That's what Morado is for. Your team keeps its filing function, files, and process; Morado is the direct IRIS A2A transmitter underneath. You keep the control you had under your own FIRE TCC, without building the XML pipeline IRIS requires.

What happens to our FIRE TCC?

It retires with FIRE. FIRE TCCs do not carry over to IRIS. With Morado you don't apply for an IRIS TCC at all: you file under our production transmitter TCC, so there's no 45-day application, no ID.me proofing, and no ATS testing on your side.

Can Morado ingest our existing FIRE (Pub 1220) files?

Yes. Morado ingests the Pub 1220 FIRE files your systems already produce, converts them to IRIS XML, validates every record, and transmits direct to the IRS. No re-keying, no upstream changes to your ERP or core system.

Do you handle corrections after FIRE retires?

Yes. CORRECTED returns run back through the same pipeline and retransmit through IRIS A2A. No hand-keying corrections one at a time in the IRIS portal, no waiting on a bureau ticket.

Do you support IRIS A2A transmission?

Yes. Morado is a fully certified IRIS A2A transmitter under its own production TCC. Transmission is machine to machine over mTLS + OAuth2, direct to the IRS, with no reseller in the path.

What credentials do we need to file through Morado?

None of the IRIS A2A stack. No TCC, no API Client ID, no X.509/JWKS setup, no ATS testing. You file under our production credentials.

WORKING WITH MORADO

How is Morado priced?

Seasonal pricing by volume tier, quoted up front. You know the season's cost before you file, and the price doesn't grow as you file. At volume, typically a fraction of per-form pricing.

Can Morado replace 1099 Pro, Sovos, or Track1099?

Yes. Morado replaces per-form e-file vendors end to end: ingestion, validation, direct IRIS A2A transmission, corrections, and recipient copies. White-glove migration is included when you file with Morado.

We already use Sovos/Avalara. Do we still need them with Morado?

No. Morado files directly to the IRS through IRIS A2A and covers the full workflow: validation, transmission, corrections, and recipient copies. Teams replace their per-form vendor entirely; white-glove migration is included.

How long does it take to get started with Morado?

Same day on managed deployments. No API integration: upload the exports your systems already produce and you're running. White-glove FIRE to IRIS migration is included, with a founding engineer, when you file with Morado.

What file formats and accounting systems does Morado accept?

Pub 1220 FIRE files, CSVs from QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, Xero, or any custom export, Excel spreadsheets, and W-9 PDFs. No specific template or column naming required.

Does Morado validate TINs against IRS records?

Yes. Real-time TIN validation runs during processing and flags mismatches before filing. No more last-minute rejections from invalid taxpayer IDs.

How does Morado protect sensitive taxpayer data during processing?

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, with PII-aware processing throughout. Deploy BYOC, where your data never leaves your cloud, or in a dedicated, isolated managed environment. Every action is attributed: who uploaded, who approved, who transmitted, and when.

FORMS & VOLUME

Can Morado e-file directly to the IRS through IRIS?

Yes. Morado e-files 1099 series, W-2G, and 1098-T directly through IRIS A2A as a fully certified transmitter under its own production TCC, and 1042-S directly through MeF. It also exports Publication 1220 files for state direct filing.

Does Morado handle state filing?

Yes. Morado files through the Combined Federal/State Filing (CF/SF) program, so eligible forms reach participating states with your federal filing. For states and forms outside CF/SF, Morado exports state-ready Pub 1220 files for direct filing.

How fast can Morado process a large batch of 1099 forms?

Average processing time is under 10 minutes for 50,000 forms. Upload to export in one session, even at peak filing season volumes.

What happens if the IRS rejects a batch?

It hasn't happened in production: 94,000+ records filed with a 0% IRS rejection rate, because every batch is validated against IRS schema and business rules before transmission. If the IRS ever rejects a record, the IRS's actual response is stored in Morado, the issue is explained in plain English, and the corrected records retransmit through the same pipeline.

What's the largest filing Morado has handled?

94,000+ W-2G information returns for a Southern California tribal casino in TY2025, filed through IRIS A2A across roughly 20 production batches with 0% IRS rejections.

Can Morado handle W-2G filing for casinos and sportsbooks?

Yes. Morado is a fully certified IRIS A2A transmitter under its own production TCC and has filed 94,000+ W-2Gs in production with zero rejections. Pre-flight validation, IRS rule encoding, audit trail per batch.

Does Morado handle 1042 and 1042-S forms for foreign contractors?

Yes. Morado e-files 1042-S directly through IRS MeF as an IRS Authorized e-File Provider. Same validation and audit trail discipline as 1099 and W-2G.

Does Morado work for credit unions and universities?

Yes. Full 1099 series for credit unions (1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-R, 5498) and 1042-S, 1098-T, 1099 for universities. Direct IRIS A2A and MeF.
